Kate Horne 


Kate Horne was born in 1949 and was educated at St Brandon's School, Clevedon and the University of Edinburgh. She qualified as a chartered surveyor in 1977 and was made a fellow in 1991. In her early years she worked for the Valuation Office, before joining Becketts. She now works as a partner in Horn Heller.

Kate's work includes commercial property management and valuations, capital gains tax valuations, rating, negotiating rents of commercial property at rent review or lease renewal, boundary disputes, party wall awards and dilapidations. She has appeared as an expert witness at Court and at Lands Tribunals and before RICS appointed arbitrators.

Kate Horn is fluent in French and has a working knowledge of Spanish.

She became a CEDR Accredited mediator in 1996 and has a wide experience at mediating complex disputes. In particular, last year her mediations included building disputes, a landlord and tenant dispute involving complex property management issues on a large estate, disputes over professional services, boundary disputes, disputes over fees, a long standing dispute between a mortgagor and mortgagee and a dispute between two service tenants and their employer/landlord.

Her interests include almost any outdoor activity: She has been an expedition leader with the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. In her quieter moments, she enjoys reading and gardening.
