Kevin was born in 1948 and following articles with Burt Brill & Edwards, Brighton, was admitted as a solicitor in 1973. He became a partner in 1975. Following a merger in 1986, Kevin became Head of Litigation in the new firm of Burt Brill & Cardens.
Kevin's practice has been wide ranging but is principally clinical negligence, personal injury and professional negligence, including solicitors negligence. Other areas include employment and general commercial disputes.
Kevin became CEDR accredited in 1997, since when he has carried out numerous mediations in the above specialisations and others besides. He is a member of CEDR Solve's Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury Panels.
Kevin's current professional appointments include:
- The Court of Appeal's Mediation Panel
- The Law Society's Civil/Commercial Mediation Personal Injury and Family Law Panels
- Designated Chairman of both the Legal Services Commission's Funding Review and its Special Cases Units Appeals Committees
- Honorary Solicitor to several charitable and/or educational institutions as well as to Crime Reduction Initiatives Limited
Formerly he has served as the Chairman of the Legal Services Commission's South Eastern Funding Review Committee.
Kevin is a Governor of Stoke Brunswick School and Chairman of the Governors of Worth School. He is a Director and Company Secretary of the Martlets Hospice Limited.
He has written a number of articles on mediation in legal and other professional journals.
Apart from this, Kevin's outside interests are fly fishing, country pursuits, most sports (MCC member) and fine wines.
