Richard Schaverien 


Richard Schaverien was born in 1957. He was admitted as a solicitor in 1982 and was articled in Brighton, establishing the litigation department within a small practice which subsequently merged in the 1990s and is now part of Howlett Clarke Crowther Wood where he is now the managing partner. The Firm has four offices in the City of Brighton and Hove.

Richard has practised civil and commercial litigation throughout his career, specialising in the last 10 years particularly in personal injury claims.

He is a member of the Law Societys Personal Injury Panel and a Fellow of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.

Richard became CEDR Accredited in 1999 and has been a Registered CEDR Solve mediator since December 2001. Richard has became an accredited member of the ADR Group in December 2004.

As well as carrying numerous mediations involving personal injury he has mediation experience in other fields, including breach of contract, landlord and tenant; property development and housing, construction, employment, financial services, partnerships and professional negligence.

Richard's outside interests include being an active member of a local jazz workshop playing the alto saxophone; theatre and travel. Richard is also a member of the HR Committee of the Governors to Brighton, Hove & Sussex Sixth Form College; an Honorary Solicitor of the Society of Sussex Downsmen; and a Board Member of the Brighton Walk of Fame Academy.
