Kathryn Britten 


Kathryn Britten was born in 1954 and has an honours degree in Mathematics with Statistics from London University. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountant in England and Wales (ICAEW) and chairs its WORKPLACE committee.

Kathryn is a past member of the ICAEW's Professional Insurance Panel and the Technical Committee of the London Society of Chartered Accountants as well as its Regulations and Ethics Review Panel. She is also a past Chairman of her local society of Chartered Accountants.

Kathryn is a member of both the Expert Witness Institute and the Academy of Experts a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a Certified Fraud Examiner. She has been a CEDR Registered Mediator since 1999.

Kathryn has 25 years of experience of the accountancy profession, having trained with Deloitte Haskins & Sells (now PwC) and is now a partner with BDO Stoy Hayward LLP. After 15 years spent providing audit and other general business services to clients, she has spent the last 11 years as a forensic accountant, in particular providing dispute resolution support, and acting as an expert witness.

Kathryn has a wide experience in providing preliminary reports to enable parties to understand the financial strengths and weaknesses of their case. She frequently assists in negotiations, as a party appointed adviser.

Her mediation experience covers a wide range of commercial disputes where she believes that her accounting knowledge has been a distinct advantage.

Kathryn's non-business interests include her family, theatre, opera and ballet, badminton, walking and art. She is also a sports car fan.
